Katheti is a cultural centre that caters to the Troizinia, Poros, and Methana areas in Greece. The centre fosters local expression and education through workshops, exhibitions, and courses. The centre wanted to establish an online portal that would guide visitors around the region and introduce them to the local businesses, artisans, and culture events.

Their idea was to make something that was functional, but culturally appropriate. More than a directory or map, but still accessible and simple for a broad audience. Our charge was to help determine how the platform might look and feel, and how it might take on the character of the region.

We created a visual identity for the map project, focusing on a vibrant nature-inspired color palette drawn from the surrounding landscape, and an icon system to visually distinguish various categories with clarity. We also created illustrated landmarks to enable users to recognize and associate with the featured locations immediately.

From the design perspective, we prioritized making simplicity, usability, and device independence our utmost concerns. What we did not want to do was make anything too technical or generic in appearance, and instead provide something that felt comfortable and inviting to even those less at ease with digital products. The partnership produced a functional design prototype.

Although the project did not proceed to launch, the design assisted in making a clear direction and is still a valuable reference point for Katheti.
